Faith in Community Involvement

 report of a Demos study

“Why those who do God do good...”

...is the title of a  recent  Demos study  http://www.demos.co.uk/files/Faithful_citizens_-_web.pdf  exploring the role of faith in society and politics. It found that “religious practice correlates with high levels of volunteering and participation in civic society.”

In other words: People of faith believe in the value of community involvement.  21 people of local Teignbridge faith communities and churches  recently had the opportunity to explore common issues at a Teignbridge CVS Volunteer Centre networking event at the Dame Hannah Rogers Trust at Seale Hayne.   It was an opportunity to find out about national events such as the year of service and national and local organisations  to support faith based community work,  but mainly an opportunity to network and discuss. Topics ranged from accessibility and inclusiveness to local partnerships,  new media and being more outward focused.

As Daniel Singleton,  National Executive Director of Faith Action said:  “ Like our name says we believe that faith should lead to action ...”
